This beautiful state park is about an hour and a half southeast of Richmond on the southern shore of the James River. The level 5.5 mile hiking loop traverses some of the oldest continually farmed acreage in the US as well as wetlands, an old saw mill, and an antebellum house and garden. The hike ends with a nice walk along the sandy beaches of the James. . We will meet at the parking lot by the river. Pack a lunch and enjoy the peace and quiet of the Park and the James, or drive down to the well known Virginia Diner for lunch. On the way back, take the free ferry from Surry to Jamestown and enjoy the views on a fine Virginia May afternoon. To go on this hike you need both shots. No sign up required
