20 May (Thurs) Blue Ridge Tunnel

Explore the wondrous Blue Ridge Tunnel from the West to East trailheads, 4.5 miles roundtrip. This hike is in on the recently opened Blue Ridge Tunnel park https://www.nelsoncounty.com/blue-ridge-tunnel/. Hikers are advised to wear a jacket and head covering as temperatures hover around 57 degrees and water drips from above. Headlamps are useful but a good flashlight will do.
Signup limited to 14 due to parking limitations. (The hike will be repeated at a future date should there be sufficient demand.) Meet at the Oilville Park and Ride at exit 167 off Interstate 64 at 8:50 or at the old Howard Johnson’s parking lot at Exit 99 off Interstate 64 at 10:00. We will head to the West Trailhead to park and walk to the East Trailhead entrance and return. The route is flat except the ½ mile to and from the West Trailhead parking lot.
