Dec 1 (Wed) Powhatan State Park

Steve Parker (Stephen.parker4@verizon.net or 804-955-7179) and Jay Henderson (hendje3@gmail.com or 804-244-2287) invite you to join them for a 5+ mile hike at Powhatan State Park.  Meet at 9:50 AM at the Trailhead/Equestrian parking lot on the left hand side of the road.

Follow the entrance road approximately 1.5 miles to the Trailhead/Equestrian parking lot on the left hand side of the road. We will begin hiking promptly at 10:00 AM. All hike participants are required to be fully vaccinated. The hike will include a trip to the cabin ruins and the historic cemetery. The trail is moderately difficult with numerous trip hazards such as leaves, roots and horse poop piles. It is suggested that all wear hiking boots and carry walking sticks, especially if there have been recent rains.
From Richmond, go to the interchange of Rt. 288 and Patterson Avenue (Rt 6), driving West along Rt. 6 approximately 13 miles, taking a left onto 522 South. After crossing the river, continue for 1.9 miles looking for the Powhatan State Park sign. Turn right onto Rt. 617. From Southside, take US 60 West from Midlothian, then US 522 North to a left turn onto Rt. 617. Travel on Rt. 617 for 1.4 miles, turning right into the park. Once reaching the park pay the parking fee or display your state park pass.
