Tuesday, March 29 – Cherry Blossoms in Washington, DC
It’s time for a train trip to our nation’s capital to hike around the Capital Mall admiring the beautiful cherry blossoms and memorials!! We will be departing on the 8:25am train from the Amtrak Staples Mill Rd station, arriving at Union Station at 10:46am. Plan to get on the last train car so we can to stay together as a group. Return time at the end of the day is variable, although many folks will be taking the 5:45pm returning to Richmond at 8:10. With option to grab libation/snack/dinner at Union Station before departure. Participants responsible for purchasing their own tickets. The hiking will begin at 11am. Bring lunch and water with the goal to eat on the steps of the Jefferson Memorial. There is an 8 mile route to tour the various memorials plus a few other sites of interest. Comfortable walking shoes a must. After lunch, folks have the option of continuing on as a group or doing your own wandering.
