Jones Run/Doyles River Falls(3C)
Bill Tennant (Willyten10@aol.com or (804) 814-5570) The leaves are turning; the mountain trails are rustling and there is a nip in the air. Let’s take a walk in the woods on a nice crisp autumn day. This is the reschedule of the hike that was canceled on 10/20. It is a Shenandoah National Park deliberate paced hike of 7 miles and 1400 feet of elevation (with an option to extend to 8.4 miles and 1800 feet) with creekside trails and lunch at the waterfall. Not a beginner’s hike, but manageable for active hikers. We leave the Oilville Park and Ride (southwest corner of Oilville Road-exit 167- on Interstate 64 west of Richmond) at 8 and arrive at Jones Run/Doyles River parking lot (just south of mile post 84- 18 miles south of the Swift Gap-route 33 entrance or 21 miles north of the Interstate 64 entrance) at 9:45. Should finish the hike at 2 or 3 and be back in the Richmond area by 4 or 5. Contact Bill if you have an interest in joining this hike. Please bring water, lunch, $10 for gas money and a sunny disposition.
