22 May (Wed) Varina LandLab
Tim Gilbert (804-304-8841) and Ann Lankey (804-338-1771) will lead a hike of about four miles at the new Varina LandLab owned by the Capital Region Land Conservancy. Highlights of the hike are the Four-Mile Creek overlook, a wildflower meadow, and a civil war rifle pit. The trail has sections of rough gravel, rough dirt, and grassy places. There is little coverage by mature trees.
There are three parking areas along Deep Bottom Road. We will meet at Entrance 2 on the map at 9:50 AM. If extra parking is needed, we can shuttle cars to Entrance 3. Bring water and sunscreen. No restroom facilities are available on the hike, but there is one at the adjacent Deep Bottom Park
