Hoping for fair weather this Wednesday morning, let's plan to hike 4-5 miles perhaps mainly on the Forest Exploration trail which tends to hold up well in wet weather. The park entrance is on Beach Road (Rt. 655) 4.1 miles west of Rt. 10 (Ironbridge Rd.). Beyond the contact station follow State Park Road a mile or so then turning right towards the pool. Meet at 9:50 by the restrooms and soda machines. There is a $7 parking fee and having exact change would be a good idea in case the contact station is closed. VA State Park Passholders need only display their parking pass. Be advised that VA State Parks do patrol and write parking fines.
